2018/19 Year in Review

July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019

A message
From Rob

Dear New North Family,

Just over two years ago we became New North Church. As I reflect on all God has done in that short amount of time, all I can say is, “Only you God!” At the same time, I’m also filled with gratitude for the faithfulness of hundreds of people who call New North Church home. There’s really nothing more fulfilling in life than giving ourselves (time, talent, and treasure) to help others find an “authentic community of Jesus followers who love and serve people.”

This 2018/19 Year in Review is just a glimpse of God’s goodness and grace at New North. It’s also the fruit of your partnership with us. This report is more than just numbers. It’s about lives that are being impacted for eternity. Every single number represents a life that God cares deeply about.

We are thankful for what God has done, but as we look beyond, to the future, we are excited for all he has for us next. Our sense is God has just begun using New North to impact the Bay Area and the world.

Missy and I, along with our elders, staff, and deacons, absolutely love serving you. It’s both a joy and an honor to be on this journey together.

Church Multiplication

Through hiring our first ever Church Planting Resident and sending one of our team to train pastors in Southeast Asia, we saw God move through us for the expansion of His Kingdom, both locally and globally.

New Offices

In September 2018, we moved into a new office space, doubling our working space and increasing our capacity for church ministry.

New Staff

We made strategic new hires on our staff by welcoming Tracey Syme as Kids Director and Ryan Pent as Student Ministries Director.

Celebrate Together

On December 31, 2018, we gathered in homes and enjoyed our first ever online church experience.

Room for More

We created room for more people, growth, opportunities, and Jesus encounters by adding a third service in April 2019.

Nights of Worship

We partnered with multiple churches across the Bay Area to co-host two extraordinary nights of worship, bringing hope to and fostering unity in our community.

Sermon series

Worship Experience

Our vibrant Worship & Creative Community maintained momentum and continued to flourish. They stayed committed to their mission to produce intergenerational, multi-genre, dynamic, and diverse worship that glorifies God and creates room for people to encounter the Holy Spirit.

of jesus followers

Over the past year, we saw hungry individuals take significant steps of faith to follow Jesus. We expanded nurturing environments for our kids to learn about and know Jesus. We created space in our Sunday services to reflect on and cultivate spiritual disciplines. We got a taste for what is to come as God leads us toward our mission to make and mature followers of Jesus.

who love and serve people

We had an impactful year in our generosity of time, treasure, and talent, yearning to love and serve our local and global communities. We saw people take eager steps to build the Church by joining a volunteer team at New North. We came together as a body to support our brothers and sisters affected by the Camp Fire. We sent leaders and teams to serve the underprivileged parts of our world. We were blessed to be vessels of joy to foster kids in our own neighborhoods. We caught a glimpse of the influence God wants to have through us as his hands and feet.
