a few reminders

Passages of the day: Click HERE to read today’s passages.
As I looked at all four of these passages and wondered what to write today, I realized that each passage reminded me of a truth I need to remember each day, so here they are.
Isaiah 22-24 In these chapters we see God's judgement on Jerusalem and Tyre, and in chapter 24 we see the Lord's devastation of the earth (some of that description looks a bit too familiar). Why such a harsh judgement you might ask? Well in Jerusalem’s case they ignored God and never sought His help. Tyre’s problem was pride so they needed to be humbled, and in chapter 25 it seems like the Lord's patience has run out and he just “lays waste to the earth.” Reminder #1: Because of sin, judgement is coming but turn and look to God. Listen to Him, ask for forgiveness, and don’t forget Jesus is with us.
Galatians 2:17-3:9 I feel like I dropped into the middle of one of Paul’s rants in this passage – he is ticked off! He was upset because the Galatians were falling back into legalism, and not living by faith in the power of the Holy Spirit. Reminder #2: God does not want me to do a list of things to gain his favor; He wants me to express my faith by loving others in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 60 You have gotta love David! He is in a battle and he cries out to God. Do you see how many times he says “you” in this psalm? Reminder #3: Always look to God, acknowledge His part in everything in your life, no matter how things are going because it’s always about Him.
Proverbs 23:15-16 This is a great couple of verses to end with! Reminder #4: If we are wise in our heart, and careful, what we say we will please our father in heaven.
4 great reminders today for a forgetful sinner like me!
My child, if your heart is wise,
my own heart will rejoice!
Everything in me will celebrate
when you speak what is right.
— Proverbs 23:15-16
Prayer to start with: Dear Heavenly Father, I need your presence. I'm a sinner and I need your grace upon my life. I turn it all over to you Lord. I want to please you with my actions and words. Amen.
