2 Corinthians 9:1-15
Psalm 51:1-19
Proverbs 22:24-25

Psalm 51:10 is a verse that many of us might know. I’m generalizing a little bit, but I feel this way because I’ve seen it in places like social media profiles  and even on posts with this text superimposed on breathtaking landscape photography. Either way, David asked God for a pure heart and a steadfast spirit. And if you’re asking (or posting) for the same, I’m happy to hear that.

Something some of us already know is that this confession probably ins’t a one time deal. A pure heart is something, that if you’re human like me, we will be asking for a lot. And David himself showed this. He was a man after God’s own heart, and he still messed up. In bunches. The man cried out to God a lot, and we should, too.

Times are tough. I know that I’m making my share of mistakes But if you get anything from reading me today, it’s that we have an awesome God we can cry out to when we do fall. And He’ll be there. He will always be there. And in addition, we want to be here for you, too. The church has programs (and more importantly PEOPLE) ready for if you ever need anyone to listen.

Having a pure heart is hard work. Thankfully, you don’t have to do it on your own. God does the heavy lifting, and we want to help with some of it, too.

To memorize:

Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.

— Psalm 51:10

Prayer to start with: Father, we need you and we always will. Help me through what I'm going through, and help me to ask for help even if I don't think I need it. You gave us Yourself and Your people so we could draw nearer. May we do so wherever we are during these trying times. Amen.
