friends who console

Passages of the day: Click HERE to read today’s passages.

Job 40:1-42:17
2 Corinthians 5:11-21
Psalm 45:1-17
Proverbs 22:14

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has "argued" with God! I mean, Job did too, but anyone else?! Then the Lord said to Job, “Do you still want to argue with the Almighty? You are God’s critic, but do you have the answers?” Job 40:2

Sometimes I think I have all the answers and believe I know what the next steps are to take. Then it doesn't go my way and the Lord and I have words. I question him and just want an explanation. But I don't think my tiny little brain could even begin to comprehend all the intricate details in God's master plan. I realize I don't need to have reasons. Instead, all I need to do is trust God and that he has my back. Which he does! This is not brand-new information to me, but in certain seasons, I forget this. I question God's wisdom with my ignorance, as did Job. Do you know when this happens more? Whenever I isolate myself and rely on my own understanding. I dwell in my own pity party and find that I have not been seeking wise counsel via Godly leaders and God's word.

Today's passages are such a timely reminder...especially in the season that we are in right now. Job was blessed with twice as much as he previously had and then the Bible tells us that his friends came to him and consoled and comforted him because of all the trials God brought against him (Job 40:11).

Do you have friends who are consoling you? Did you sign up for a community group yet? Are you involved in WBS, Men's Frat, or MOPS? There are people in those groups who want to walk with you through your trials! Surround yourself with people who love the Lord and can speak wisdom into your life. People who will pray for you and guide you through the storm and perhaps remind you that God has abundant blessings in store for you!

To memorize:

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

— 2 Corinthians 5:17

Prayer to start with: Thank you God for giving me wise friends who can remind me of your master plan. I know you have the best in mind for me. Help me to step out of my comfort zone when I need help and bring people into my life who speak your truth.
