2 Corinthians 2:12-17
I usually skip the book of Job when I am reading the bible as I find it very depressing, but this chapter of Job about a poem of wisdom is very interesting. If God can grant you one gift of: power, wealth, skill, or wisdom, what would you ask for? My guess is that wisdom would be the least chosen as we humans deem the other gifts as more precious and valuable. However, Job describes wisdom as more precious than gold or silver and more beautiful than anything that comes from the sea like corals and pearls. Wisdom is more valuable than the most expensive stones or rocks like sapphires and diamonds. The reasons that Job provided was that wisdom cannot be discovered, cannot be bought, and skillful men do not care about wisdom. Wisdom is God’s gift to us and only through God can we obtain wisdom and be wise.
Often when I prayed with my 2 children, I prayed for wisdom. With wisdom, they will learn to respect God and obey His commands. They will learn not to do evil things and understand that only through Jesus will they go to heaven. Of course mistakes will be made as they grow, but as long as they have the wisdom to confess their sins to God, He will forgive them. With wisdom, we can live freely without stress as we have the knowledge that God is with us at all times and have prepared a path for us to go forward until God brings us to heaven when we die.
As the deer longs for streams of water,
so I long for you, O God.
— Psalm 42:1
Prayer to start with: Father God, we prayed that you will teach us how to be wise. With the uncertain es in this world and the pandemic s ll going on, we seek your wisdom more than ever on how to cope with everyday life and to stay safe. We prayed that you will provide wisdom to the essential workers, scientists, government officials as they are all working together to come up with a vaccine for Covid 19. We prayed for wisdom on how we can be your light during these tough times and to show support for those affected by the pandemic. We prayed all these in your precious son’s name, Amen!
