2 Chronicles 8:11-10:19
I remember growing up; I would often hear the saying, "your life may be the only bible someone would ever know." I would always laugh it off and think to myself, "Okay, no pressure." Reading this verse reminded me of that saying.
Romans 8:11-12 -"11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it."
It reminds me that we do have to stand out in the way we live our life. It can be hard sometimes when everything in the world can seem like it goes against the grain of what the bible says. But as I have navigated through life- different phases, different cities, and times, I see how much Jesus is our only real hope. In 2020, I can feel like with every turn I make; you can see hopelessness tries to push its way in different ways in my own life and many others around me. Life can throw many obstacles, and it is so easy to be so consumed with that obstacle to see that God is there to help us conquer it and not give in to it and lose hope. It can be easy to be sidetracked with our emotions and be mad at someone and not forgive or withhold from that conversation or feel hope left the room when someone we know or if we may be battling an illness, etc.
Romans 8:24-25"For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently."
As Christians, we do need to stand out but even more so than ever to bring hope into a world of darkness. Now, when I think of the saying, "your life may be the only bible someone would ever know." I am reminded of how powerful our testimonies are and how it unlocks freedom into my life and can do the same for others.
This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
— Psalm 18:30
Prayer to start with: Lord, whatever is thrown my way I pray to you help me to keep my joy in you and that my light in this world will never die. I pray you guide my steps, emotions and facilitate the words that I say. I pray for everlasting peace in my life and for others. Thank you for all that you are doing, always. Amen.
