2 Kings 17:1-18:12
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the future lately because I’m about to finish school. Over and over I get asked the same question: “What are you going to do after this?”
In order to answer that question, I’ve been talking a lot to those that I trust and love like my dad, girlfriend, best friends and of course God.
Whenever I need to make a decision, I find myself stuck in my thoughts or I’m just doing my devotions/quiet time with with God, I choose one of three places to go. The first one is my bedroom cause I can close the door and stay there for awhile. Second, I walk and shoot the basketball around in my backyard and third, is my favorite spot to sit at Ocean Beach. I do this because it helps take distractions away and allows me to seek God’s wisdom.
There are times that I have these light-bulb moments and I’m just in awe of what God reveals to me. To me, that is what Proverbs 18:4 means when the writer talks about the running brook. Brooks are are clear, life giving and there’s always something new every time the water passes! How encouraging is it that God is the provider of that kind of wisdom? To be honest, I have an idea of what my future could look like but I’m going to depend on that running brook because I want to stay true to who He is and to have the same desire as Him.
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
— Psalm 148:13
Prayer to start with: God, thank You for the wisdom that you constantly reveal. I am always in awe of You and Your timing.
