1 Samuel 5:1-7:17
John 6:1-21
Psalm 106:13-31
Proverbs 14:32-33

I still remember that moment more than 15 years ago, midway through a 4-hour trip from home to San Luis Obispo on my drive alone back to college, when my tears began to flow uncontrollably.

What hit me that day wasn’t a phone call announcing a death of a loved one. Nor did I just end a relationship with my significant other. No, I was simply listening to a sermon on mp3, when the Lord pierced my heart into tears of joy from the passages in Psalm 8.

“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” - Psalm 8:3-4

That day, I was overwhelmed to know that the God who set the moon and the stars into place would have me on his mind and even cares for my well being.

In today's passage from John 6, we see the Lord's greatness and power in the way he cares for us. He does the impossible of feeding thousands by multiplying one meal. He even defies the law of gravity as he walks on water to be with his disciples. We often limit our thinking of God when in reality He can turn the world upside down with a snap of a finger. And what is most amazing of all is His power to overcome death so ultimate we can be with Him.

After that moment in the car with the Lord, whenever I think about the greatness of God, I am filled with joy to know how much he cares and loves me. There is nothing our God won’t do for you to show how much he cares to be with you.

To memorize:

Wisdom rests in the heart of a man of understanding, but it makes itself known even in the midst of fools.

— Proverbs 14:33

Prayer to start with: Today Lord, let me experience your greatness and to rest my soul in your care. You alone are my true joy and delight. Amen.
